Sketch-fabulous Monday card!

well...at least i think so! made this card using one of the Simply Card Sketches by Judy over at Simply Scrapping...I must say that the sketch stumped me at first...but then decided to just go distressed with it! So it's pretty much a brown pallette with lots of distressing and inking...honestly nothing on it other than maybe the brads or flowers started out the color it ended up! even inked up the lace! Sorry the pic is so scrunchy...having to resize A LOT with the current three column format i have...definitely been considering a two column...but i really like the way a three column looks...anyways...here it is:

Supplies:
  • Paper: K&Co - LIfe's Journey
  • Cardstock: CTMH
  • Stamps: Studio 490 - Ticket to Art
  • Ink: Distress Ink - Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap, Walnut Stain
  • Flowers: Prima
  • Tag: idea-ology Philosophy Tags
  • Brads and Lace: no idea

Sketch Challenge Day!

Ok...so I posted a LO a little while ago that I used a sketch on...well now here is a card using a really fun sketch from the fab ladies at 2RedBananas! They are also hosting the challenge over at Card Positioning Systems blog...now...I am not sure that I have ever been over at the CPS blog...but I'm loving me some 2RedBananas! Their latest stamp release is adorable! So take a second and stop by and check them out! Oh...before I forget...here's my card:

The never-ending LO!

At least that's how it felt! This LO took me close to a week to finish. The pic is from a recent trip to the Smoky Mountains and I've really wanted to scrap it since we returned...finally started Sunday or Monday...and then stalled...BADLY! I don't know the last time that one item took me that long...I've quit a project after struggling with it...but this one I just HAD TO finish...as much as it tried to drive me crazy! I did use a sketch by Judy over at Simply Scrapping, I didn't follow it too closely..mainly because once I got going...well the whole thing went bonkers!

Supplies:
  • Paper: Prima Nursery Tales

  • Cardstock: Bazzil, American Crafts

  • Flowers: Prima - Nursery Tales

  • Paint: Distress Paint - Old Paper

  • Glimmer Mist: Glacier, Pearl

Wow...you messed up on this one Barker!

Ok...for those of you that may not know...I'm a big NASCAR fan...my favorite driver happens to be #88...we are with you through thick and thin Jr! Anyways...as a little bit of an introduction...I also happen to like the #18 Busch...not the #2 (actually nothing against older brother...but eh...not my thing!)...moving on...I think Kyle Busch is good for NASCAR...we gotta have a "bad guy"...the guy that doesn't care what anyone else thinks and just goes out and drives and be-danged with anoyone else out there...ALL GOOD WITH THAT! He's a talented driver...and a bit of a bad-ass...and public enemy #1...all good...who doesn't need someone to "hate"....well...all of that being said...Mr. B...crew chief for the #55...you bit off the big one today...it's ok if you want to compare win totals...I have no problem with that...BUT...if you want to universally declare that one driver is better than another based on the number of wins...well...BITE ME....how about you throw the driver you are the crew chief for into the mix...where does he rank????
Now...let's take some things into consideration...if you want to publically state that one driver is better than another...what does Kyle Busch have to live up to??? Yes his big brother one a championship...ok...and???? Let's take a driver that grew up in the shadow of a legend, who bumped his dad a little on the track and got blasted for it by his father...who was always treated on the track as either not the son (as dad did while racing...but once the race was over...watch out...) OR as a driver who got a chance because of who his father was; whose father died IN the sport they both love...who has had to battle not only the ghost of the past but his ridiculous former stepmother...find a new ride...deal with family issues and wanting to stay within the family and having to leave it because of how close cousins can be! AND...carry the expectations of a fan base that fondly refers to themselves as "Jr. Nation"...not to mention the weight of the media who expect "the most popular driver in NASCAR" to deliver each and every week...and if he has a bad year...or two...then he's NOTHING...not talented, not good, and everyone else has to be better...WOW...carry those burdens and THEN dare call someone better!
YES...NASCAR needs the guy in the black hat...YES we need a bad guy we can all publicly hate but privately say...damn...the kid has balls....BUT...we don't need him as an excuse to sacrifice other drivers.
How many championships has Jr won? How many championships has Mark Martin won? And HOW OLD ARE THEY?
Let's talk real numbers, let's talk reality...but let's not take one driver and pit them against another and NOT include the REALITY of what each driver faces...KB has a freedom that maybe some drivers don't have...because honestly...how much do we expect from him OTHER than to be a bad-ass?
I want to see KB do well..cuz dang it...he's a lot of fun to watch! I like the guy...what I don't like is what he did when he smashed the guitar...there are some people out there that put a lot of work and effort into something that may seem so small...and to have their work and effort slammed to the ground and smashed as if it was nothing...as if only to make a statement as "look what I CAN DO"...how about you show us some restraint and RESPECT to the people that put together the show each week? leave the attitude on the track...give some smart alecky interviews...but don't take a symbol of hard work and smash it to the ground as if it were nothing.
NOW...and last thing...but...MW...you are a pretty cool guy...DR...hope you win some more (with another team)...and MA...you are so CUTE...but I can no longer support a team that has a CREW CHIEF go out and slam another driver in comparison to one...yet fails to leave out his own record...so BARKER...make a choice...be a commentator or a crew chief...you can't be both! MWR...sorry...you have lost my support...

Sunday Simply Scrapping Card Sketch

Well...I was hoping for another "S" in the title...but it didn't work out so well! LOL! This card is made from another Judy sketch at Simply Scrapping...I didn't get a chance to do it when it was first posted a few weeks ago...so I just played around with it today...now...I'm not even sure I like this card...but I don't hate it! Been a long time coming...

Happy Friday evening ya'll! I hope everyone is doing fantastic! Well...long story short...it's been a LOOOONNNNGGGG time since I honestly felt like I created something for the simple reason of CREATING SOMETHING! I have a lot of assignments (most of which I am behind on...shhhhh!) and a lot of times even though I'm having a blast creating stuff...sometimes I wonder how often I just get to throw down and PLAY! Well...earlier this week I received my monthly order from CTMH...and MAN-O-MAN...GOOD STUFF! So tonight I just chilled and played...nothing set in my mind...well correction...once I saw the sketch I had a fairly good idea of what I wanted to do...but even in my wildest dreams...let's just say for the first time in a VERRRRRRY long time...what I have created I would not change anything on! I simply adore it! Pics may not show it's justice...but WOWZA in person! Not to mention I hand painted the flower with Glimmer Mist! I mean SERIOUSLY...how often do any of us just sit and take the time to work something from start to finish taking the most painstaking detail????? Or maybe it's just me that has the tendency to take short cuts when I can...ANYWAYS...

Here is my Cree-a-shun:

I loved the corner element because it came strictly from me playing around:

And here is an idea of the over all 3-D factor:

Well...please drop me a line and let me know what you think! Hope to get some more just for fun stuff done this weekend!

GO RVing...or something like that!

We own a Pop-up camper...not quite an RV but anyways... we had such a fantastic weekend up in the Smoky Mountains! Only about a three hour drive from us...we were up in Whittier, NC at the Timberlake Campground run by the OH-SO-FANTASTIC Ms. Betty! Honestly...it was a little piece of heaven and it was horrible to have to leave it! Here are a couple of pics:

View of our campsite:

view from our campsite (before we parked the camper...didn't obstruct much of the view though!):

all i can say is as great the views were, as cool as it was to be on top of ole smoky (more on that later...the mountain...minds outta gutters! LOL!) the best part was spending time away from tv, puters, and the "real" world...but spending time together and the kiddo telling us that she thoroughly enjoyed herself!

more later dolls!
