B-A-N-A-N-A-S

Ok...channeling a little Gwen Stefani...through my Ipod of course! LOL! Anywho...one last card to close out the month of April...by 45 mins...at least where I'm at! This card was based on the latest challenge from 2RedBananas which was to use stripes. Thankfully I happened to take a look around my disaster area and see a sheet of fabulously striped paper with some colors I have been migrating to lately! It's a very simple card, and that's something I really like about it! It has several different colors to it...and some standard card elements...but not too much beyond that...a bit of a change of pace for me...

Supplies:
  • Cardstock: CTMH - Juniper, Tulip, Creme Brulee
  • Paper: CTMH - Key to My Heart
  • Stamps: CTMH - Treasure Life
  • Ink: CTMH - Juniper, Tulip
  • Ribbon: Unknown
  • Cuttlebug: Swiss Dots Embossing Folder

Stamps and Smiles #13 - April showers...

...bring May flowers! And here I start closing out the month of April with a card about flowers! Ok...I know...I'm reaching a little bit...but c'mon...it's fun! This card was done using the oh so adorable Stamps and Smiles weekly sketch...I really really like this card...I know...a little surprising to hear that coming from me...usually so critical of my own stuff...but I just really like how this one came together!

Supplies:
  • Cardstock: CTMH, Georgia Pacific, Bazzil, American Crafts
  • Paper: American Crafts - a la Carte
  • Ink: Shabby Shutters Distress Ink, Black Soot Distress Ink; CTMH - Tulip
  • Stamps: Verve - Floral Symphony
  • Bling: Heidi Swapp
  • Ribbon: Making Memories
  • Embossing Powder: Stamp-nStuff - Detail Clear

Last day of April...

...and I seriously can't believe that it's the last day of April!!! Where is this year going??? Before too long...the school year will be over and it will be time for summer vacation for the kiddo...and then of course i will spend every waking day asking when school starts! LOL! Well...on to other things...I have seen on many blogs the Fave Five Friday thingy...and I love to check out what other people have found to be their favorites over the week...and gives me ideas of stuff to check out! So...I'm going to try and do a little monthly review of stuff I enjoyed, had fun with and so on for the month of April! Here goes:
  1. VERVE stamps...honestly...FABULOUS! They hold ink very well, lots of fantastic sentiments and the images are fun!
  2. CTMH new catalogue is out!!! I can't wait to place my first order!!!
  3. STAZON Timber Brown ink...it's a perfect brown! I have tried other brands looking for a good go with anything brown...and this is it!
  4. Pegboard storage! LOL! My DH put mine up and I love how much storage space it gives me...plus I can keep some of my favorite pretties in view!
  5. Thickers by American Crafts...I have some...have had them for awhile...finally USED them...and LOVE EM!

Well...that pretty much sums up my April fave standouts...there are too many blog sites and challenges for me to list that I abolutely adore every week...all of which can be found on my blog list on the left side of my page!

Hoping to get at least one more thing done before April officially ends...and then once May starts...well...I'll need new music as well!

so ugly...only a mother could love

Or maybe...so ugly it's cute??? LOL! that's my take on this current card. I created it using the weekly sketch from Mojo Monday...great sketch...not so fab card! I built the card completely around the sentiment from Dr. Seuss...love the stamp...but not what i initally imagined. I'm not hating the card...just not sure if I love it or not! It's got some cute elements...but all together...not sure if it works. Oh well...I know someone in particular who will appreciate this card...I'll stick it under DDs pillow later this week as a just because kinda thing...she'll love the monkeys at least!

Sugar and spice...

Not so much spice...but plenty Sweet! This is the card I made for my MIL for mother's day...DH was NOT going to send his mom a card! I was SHOCKED! Seriously! I had made my mother's mom's day card yesterday (can't post it here yet) so as I showed it to him and asked if he wanted one for his mom...he was like...well if you make one fine...if not...i'm not sending one. My jaw totally fell...and of course had to figure out what kind of card I was going to make! LOL!
Here it is:

Supplies:
  • Cardstock: American Crafts, Bazzil
  • Paper: DCWV - The Sweet Stack (LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS)
  • Ink: Stazon - Timber Brown

Basic Grey #32...more pink!!

OK...I'm on a pink and brown kick right now! This current card comes from the latest Basic Grey Challenge...which was an ABFAB sketch! And...I figure an excellent opportunity to use some Sultry paper and Rub-ons from my FAVE paper company...BG! I was instantly inspired...now...to be perfectly honest...what I ended up with was not what I thought I would end up with! I had a very different idea in my head, but with the size I needed the card to be to PROPERLY show off the paper...well...you gotta be flexible! LOL! Am I thrilled with it...not exactly...but again...I'm very critical of my own stuff! Anywho...here it is:

  • Cardstock: American Crafts
  • Paper: Basic Grey - Sultry
  • Rub-on: Basic Grey
  • Bling: Bow-tique
  • Stickles: Diamond
  • Flowers: Prima

blah...tuesday...blah

Today felt like a Monday in the worst sense of the word...I am ready to go to bed! Yesterday we revealed something slightly different over at the Shoe...we all received a "secret" product to try out...Micro-beads...or at least the slightly cheaper version of them...Let me say...these were a struggle to use...beads going everywhere...as i look at my desk now...days later...i see random clusters of beads on my desk...i was using a tray and everything...LOL! oh well..cute look...a little goes a long way...but a pain in my rear end...I played around with them...didn't like what i ended up with...and then finally ran a line of tape (Adtech tape runner...LOVE IT!) around the edge of the card...dumped the beads on...there you have it! I actually really really really like the image as it came out!

I have to honestly say that I started with a completley different idea of what I wanted to do with it than what I ended up with! I am not 100% sure if I actually LIKE my own card...but...I usually don't...sometimes I do...but other times I have to give it time to decide if it's something I really like...anyways...enough rambling...here it is:

Thursday, April 16, 2009

I love my job...but...LOL!

Sometimes it wears me out! LOL! I honestly do love my job and I am incredibly thankful to be employed in these trying times...but sometimes it means I don't have as much time for my "hobbies" as usual...such has been the case this week! I honestly think I am going through scrap withdrawals...and random ideas for LOs and cards keep popping into my head...I'm just hoping that I will still have these ideas when I sit down this weekend and get back to the paper!

I have a couple of projects I MUST get started this weekend...I'm working on a mini-album (well...I have the album...have gotten ZERO accomplished so far! LOL!) for my Mom for Mother's Day...it's all about her grandkids and when she got to have all three of them visit at once last fall...great pics...can't wait to actually do something with them!

I have several items to get prepped and done for the DT, and...of course I have stuff that I want to work on for the FUN of it! Someone posted about a product on CafeMom today...and I realized I had it and hadn't used it in awhile...so I will definitely be trying to dig that out and play!

Yesterday was the weekly card challenge over at If the shoe fits..hosted by the fabulous Miss Kristy! It was a fun, neat little card to put together...check out the blog itself for all the details...here was my take:

#4 - Sort of...

Well...I've gotten quite a bit accomplished this evening...some of which I have not posted pics of (swaps and things)...I did get 3 card challenges done...with mixed results...but I hadn't scrapped in about a week...so this was good no matter the outcome. Last...but by no means least...it's another Fabulous Monday over at If the shoe fits...this particular challenge, hosted by Ms. T...is a joy-fold card...fun to make...and it can really stretch your paper selection talents! LOL! Here is my joy-fold card:

Supplies:
  • Cardstock: Bazzil
  • Paper: Basic Grey - Boxer Collection
  • Stamped Image: CTMH
  • Sentiment: CTMH - Just Because
  • Ink: Peeled Paint - Tim Holtz Distress Ink
  • Embossing Powder: Stampendous - Detail Clear

#3 - Banana Split!

Ok...next card on my list for this "scrapathon" is the Banana Split Sunday challenge from 2 Red Bananas, this week it's a sketch. Cute sketch, again I struggled to select papers...I really like the ones I chose...and while I think I was true to the sketch...I played with it a little bit...I'm also starting to think that I have an addiction to 3D dots (or pop dots, or foam squares...whatever it is you use or call them)...I have yet to make a card lately WITHOUT using them! Here goes my take on the sketch:

Supplies:
  • Cardstock: American Crafts; Georgia Pacific
  • Paper: Daisy D's
  • Sentiment: Mini Ornates - Tim Holtz Collection Stampers Anonymous
  • Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Peeled Paint
  • Ribbon and brads unknown

#2 - BG Challenge - Yummy chocolate!!!

Ok...this weeks challenge for the Basic Grey Challenge blog was "chocolate." I immediately thought of this paper from Bittersweet...it just looked like chocolate with nougat...oh so yummy! I am not thrilled with this card by any means...I had a vision of something else entirely...but it's still cute and will serve a purpose at some point! LOL! Here it is:

Supplies:

  • Cardstock: American Crafts; CTMH; Bazzil
  • Paper: Basic Grey - Bittersweet collection
  • Image and Sentiment: Inkadinkado - Birthday Cupcake
  • Ink: CTMH - Chocolate
  • Extra: Stickles - Cinnamon; Ribbon - unknown

Night o'scrap #1: Stamps and Smiles #10!

So earlier this week as I was checking out some of my favorite scrappy spots...I HAD to check in on the newest Stamps and Smiles sketch challenge...only to find out that it wasn't there! Momentary panic and hysteria (LOL!) but as I read I found out that they'd moved the weekly Stamps and Smiles sketch challenge to a different link on their blog! So when I do sketches for SaS challenges...I will show the link for their sketch challenge portion of their blog...BUT never fear...on my blog list on the left...the link takes you to their main blog site! Anyways...here goes my take on Sketch #10:

Supplies:
  • Cardstock: American Crafts; Georgia Pacific
  • Paper: Basic Grey - Offbeat collection
  • Stamps: CTMH - Bird Basics
  • Ink: CTMH - Sunkiss Yellow; Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Ranger) - Weathered Wood

Happy Easter! and welcome to my night o' scrap!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend! We were very lucky to get to spend some time with my Mom and Sister...it was short...but fabulous! We had a lot of fun and it was very relaxing...then the requisite egg hunt this morning...and lots o'food this evening! Anywho...I start working night shift tomorrow...so I'm TRYING to stay up as late as possible tonight! I will post as a I go with my scrappy creations!

Good Friday and Easter Weekend!

It's really nice to have today off work. It's the kiddo's Spring Break this week...and this is the first day I will have to spend it with her! But not for long...we will be out and about visiting some friends and family...so not exactly just Mommy and me time...but she is looking forward to visiting. I hope to get one or two things done today before we are due to meet up with some people...but that will depend on if I get the non-scrappy type stuff done first! LOL!

Anyways...as promised the other day, here is the card I created for the Wednesday Card Challenge over at If the shoe fits...

I struggled with it for a little while...but in the end it worked out. It turned into more of a "letter" card...if there is such a thing. Basically it's a card I'd use to send a letter, no real sentiment or specific reason like a birthday or anything...but just a nice note! Enough of my rambling...off to get some stuff done...hopefully to return to scrapping soon!

Supplies:

  • Cardstock: American Crafts
  • Paper: K&Co - Life's Journey
  • Stamp: Stampabilities - Le London Script
  • Image: Somerset Studio Clip Art
  • Ink: Ranger Distress Ink - Walnut Stain
  • Flowers: Prima
  • Stickles: Distress Stickles - Walnut Stain
  • Extras: Glossy Accents; Bling and Ribbon unknown

Snacking on some Blog Candy!!!

SO a gal pal of mine Miss Judith is hosting some absolutely fabulously delicious blog candy!!! And...it's from lines that I would LOVE to have! The Sabrina line went so fast at my Michaels that I couldn't get anything other than a pack of flowers...HOWEVER...it's partly my fault for not going ahead and buying it when i had the chance...oh well...live and learn!!! Anyways...drop by her blog and check out the candy and what this super talented lady has going on!!!!!

Basic Grey Goodness!

I'm on a challenge kick this weekend!! Came across another blog randomly hopping this morning Basic Grey Challenges...and I instantly had to participate in their latest challenge...it's to create a project with a spring/easter theme and you have to use at least one item from Basic Grey...and being I'm a BG paper junkie...I had to play!!! This is the card I created for their "You're a Gem" challenge...you pretty much only had to use gems of some type or sort on your submission...so here goes!!!

I used gems on the sentiment, and some on the butterfly wings. I then coated the "body" with Diamond Dust and Glossy Accents, and then randomly Stickled some areas for a little extra shine!

This is another stamp set that I have that I have NOT used! Only...I can claim ignorance on this one a bit as I only received it the other day!!!! So...at least I can say I used a previously "unused" set for this week!!! WOOHOO!!! Love working in the grey area!!! HEEHEE! Hopefully I will have time tomorrow to scrap...oh wait...what am I thinking????? Of course...I will MAKE TIME to scrap!!!
