all about style...

Created this piece over this weekend...just for fun...no challenges...no nothing!  LOL!

Enjoy!

Supplies: Distress ink - china blue, weathered wood, barn door, rusty hinge, brushed corduroy; Stamps - studio 490; black diamond stickles; rock candy distress stickles; chipboard pieces: Maya Road (base and hanger); black archival ink; stazon timber brown ink; adironadack paint dabber in gold

What I learned...

actually...more correctly...what I was able to create in class with Wendy Vecchi.  In the first class we created a wall hanging (or it could have been used as a book cover, or really be used as anything one might want!).  We used some pretty cool ink combinations that really gave a fabulous end result:

The second class I took was created a mini book...OH MY WORD!  I had soooo much fun!  I actually picked up an extra book so that I could create another book, with a different theme/colors/etc...I really really enjoyed making this book:

and here is my favorite page(s) from the book...actually...I love each and every page...but what we did with the dress form chipboard piece (Maya Road) was so easy...but gave a fabulous end result!

I'm so inspired right now to get to work!  I've created two small projects so far this weekend (yes...it's Monday...but it's still my weekend!  Totally being bad today...took the day off for a much needed break)!  Off to get inky!  Have a fabulous day!

Some Tim-spiration

OH WOW!  I know I said this last week...but now way did I think I would get an entry finished for this week's Simon Says Stamp and Show...this week's challenge is Tim Holtz inspiration.  I've been fighting the battle between my love for the fabulous Ms. Vecchi...and my adoration for all things Sir Holtz!  As much as they share with each other and use the same products...I personally think there are distinct differences!  Maybe it's just me!  However...I will say that their stamps (and Tim's Sizzix dies) work so well together!  Love them all!  Anywho...here is my entry:

This picture does not show the lace very well at the bottom...kind of blends in...but there is a strip of lace adhered to the bottom edge of the tag that I inked with a dab of Frayed Burlap to kill the starkness of the white.  Now off to get even more inky and messy...gotta love the GRUNGE!  Smooches!

Supplies:  Distress ink - Peeled Paint, Frayed Burlap, Weathered Wood, Stormy Sky, Wild Honey, Walnut Stain, Pumice Stone; distress stickles - Walnut Stain; Stamps - all by Stampers Anonymous - Tim Holtz and Studio 490; Grungeboard, Grungepaper; Distress Embossing Powder - Antique Linen; Distress Embossing Medium; idea-ology: foliage and film strip ribbon;  Adirondack Dabbers - Juniper, Gold; Paper - Jenny Bowlin

WOOOOHOOO! Best class ev-ah!

Happy Sunday all!  I had an ABSOLUTE blast this weekend!  Had a fantastic class yesterday with THE Wendy Vecchi at my LSS...and went back for round 2 today!  Had an amazing amazing time!  I'll try and post pics of my finished projects later...but still on a high right now from so much fun in just two days!!!  I'll be getting crafty tonight and tomorrow (woohoo...even more of a reason to be so thrilled...I took tomorrow off!)  so i'm off for now...oh wait...had to share this one pic...

It was such a thrill taking classes with Ms. V!

Life is...

an unexpected, joyful, loving. crazy, most eventful, completely random, but so wonderful kind of thing!  Ok..won't chatter too much with this one...let's just say i was not entirely sure that i would get this done in time...and by hook or by crook...it got done!  Here is my entry for this week's Simon Says Stamp and Show...

Here are a few detail shots:

Long story short...as if...I am a huge Wendy Vecchi fan!  When I saw that this week's challenge was 100% inspired by Ms. V...well...HAD TO PLAY ALONG!  Some random tidbits:  I took a class from Ms. Vecchi last year learning how to make flowers from grunge (and used what I learned with this project)...last year I also completely randomly won some goodies after commenting on the Studio 490 blog (Wendy Vecchi's blog), one of those goodies was a scrumptious bit of paper by Jenny Bowlin...I used that paper for this project (it had never before been opened by my hands!)...next weekend (SCREEEEEECH!) I will be taking two more classes from Ms. V at my LSS!  I am SERIOUSLY excited!  WOOOHOO!  Anyways...enough random chatter from me!  Hope all is good for you!

Supplies: Paper - Jenny Bowling; Shadowbox/ATC holder - 7 gypsies; grungepaper and grungeboard; ink - distress ink peeled paint, walnut stain, old paper, fired brick, tumbled glass, faded jeans, wild honey, spiced marmalade, stazon timber brown; stamps - ALL Studio 490...wish i could remember all the sets!; tim holtz alterations - caged bird; bling - heidi swapp; pearl - queen&co; rock candy stickles; idea-ology - gears, game spinners, foliage, key, tickets, ornate plates; october afternoon - 3 kittens card;   making memories - key font stickers (can't remember exact names); I am sure i am leaving something off but it is entirely unintentional!

hope...

it was the tag that fit...and so therefore the post is entitled "hope"...this entire past weekend I was totally perusing my magazines and books...trying to get back in the "groove" and dagnabit...I certainly did!  for whatever reason...when push comes to shove...when it's time...I gotta go with the "grunge"...not just grungepaper/board...it's more with the whole ink...funky paper...put random bits together...that's what makes me HAPPY!  I like to take the opportunity to play...sometimes it works out better than others...sometimes it's jut a lot of fun and I'm thrilled with what comes out.  So...in the name of HOPE and fun...here it is:

just lots and lots of fun!  tried out new techniques...which fortunately worked!  have a fab week everyone!

supplies: distress ink: spun sugar, tumbled glass, pumice stone, walnut stain, old paper; paper - cosmo cricket; flower center - prima; tim holtz alterations - tattered florals and caged bird; grungepaper; tags from idea-ology; random bit of ephemera - making memories; pearl - queen&co

Snappy color challenge

One last project to close out my weekend.  This one is for the Gingersnaps for the GC64: Red, Yellow, Orange.  Decided to pull out my distress inks and get messy.  I was also peeking at my Compendium of Curiosities book from Tim Holtz...and the inks and grunge just cried out to me!  Here is my entry:

And now I'm off to watch some True Blood with the hubby!  Hope everyone has a fantastic week and I'll catch you again soon I hope!

Supplies: Stamps - Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz and Studio 490; Grungeboard and grungepaper; Distress Inks: broken china, pumice stone, black soot, spun sugar, wild honey, shabby shutters, fired brick, spiced marmalade; pearl - queen&co, bling - heidi swapp; ribbon - unknown; adirondack paint dabber - snow cap; stampendous clear embossing powder

Seashells

Hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday!  Been spending the day relaxing here at the house, actually sitting in front of the computer slowly but surely plugging away at some crafty projects.  Dropped by Moxie Fab and BOOM...inspiration!  The challenge is Tuesday Trigger: She Sells Seashells and they provided this picture for inspiration:

Here is my card:

I had recently picked up the Spellbinders Impressabilities Sea Scape plate to go with a stamp set I had picked up back in February at the Stamp, Scrap Art Tour.  Once I embossed using the plate, I airbrushed over the plate (like a stencil) a varying range of blues and greens, then topped it off with some Glimmer Mist.  After I got the main focal piece done...there was no way I could come up with to use the stamps!  LOL!  I finished it off with a scrap of netting I had in my scrap drawer...and presto...it was done!  Enjoy!

Supplies:  Cardstock - Bazzil; Spellbinders Impressabilities - Sea Scape; Copic - BG45, BG49, G07, G24, G28; Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist - Pearl

It was great to have peace and quiet for a bit, but I have to admit I missed her something terrible after about a week (probably closer to two weeks, but she may read this blog one day and she should see I missed her IMMEDIATELY! LOL!). She and I have plans today to hang out and do some mommy/daughter type stuff (mani/pedi day!). However, she was out like a light and was not feeling the getting up early today, so I had some time to get crafty this morning. I created this card for a couple of challenges, used the sketch at Papertake Weekly and color combo from Quixotic Challenges. Now I'm off to have a GOOD day with my lovely daughter! Catch you later!

Quixotic Challenges - Challenge #34 Color Combo
