hit and miss

I've made 4 cards (so far) this weekend...2 I like...2 I'm not a huge fan of...sometimes getting scrappy is hit and miss.  Each card begins with all the right intentions (and sometimes with no clue what it's going to end up looking like) but the end product isn't always what we hoped.  Oh well...that's life when you have a hobby like this!  It has taken me awhile at times to accept that not everything I make is going to be something I'm happy with.  But that's ok...beauty is in the eye of the beholder...so maybe someone else will like the card...even if I'm not thrilled.  So...here are two more cards for the Hope You Can Cling To challenge at Splitcoast.  This one is for the Ribbons challenge:

and this one is for the Girls in Pink challenge:

ok...almost football time, lots o'laundry to do, so maybe I'll scrap in between loads!

Supplies:
Ribbons - Sentiment: Verve; Cardstock - Bazzil; Nestabilities - Fancy Tags; Diamond Stickles; Ribbon - unknown; Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black

Girls - Image: Inkadinkdado; Ink - Ranger Archival in Coffee; Paper and Cardstock - SEI; Bling - Recollections; Flowers - Prima; Ribbon - unknown; SU Ticket Punch

you're the best (and sweet too!)

wooohooo!  two-fer day!  got two cards done before the football game!  (HOOK EM HORNS!).  this is another card for the Hope You Can Cling To challenges - HYCCT13 Don't Be a Square.  thankfully I had some scalloped circle cards that I had purchased back in February at the Stamp Scrap Art Tour.  I have very little talent when it comes to making a shaped card...can't ever get the circle or flower or whatever to work out size wise.  So thankfully I had a pre-made base to work from!

Ok...now to run around crazy to get cleaned up before the game!  Hopefully I'll be back post-game to get some more cards made!

Supplies: Paper - CTMH, Cardstock - CTMH; Scalloped card - The Paper Cut; Ink - Antique Linen distress ink, Ranger Archival in Coffee; Sentiment - Verve; Ribbon - gingham from really reasonable ribbon, satin - unknown

you're an amazing...sketch

yes...totally lame title for a blog post...but i'm still working on getting the mojo flowing today!  sometimes you have to force the mojo.  that's the problem i've had this week, no mojo and nothing working to get it going...so this morning i pretty much forced myself to make a card.  and you know what?  it worked!  i can feel the scrappy mojo motor starting to run!  woohoo!  i am way behind on the Hope You Can Cling To challenges at Splitcoast, and i would love to try and get caught up (or at least close!) this weekend!  this card is for the HYCCT challenge #18 - Vintage.  I love playing with vintage...but it was slow in coming to me...so then I went sketch hunting...and came across a fab simple sketch over at Waltzing Mouse Sketch Challenges (WMSC20).  here is my card:

now i'm off to tempt fate and see if I can get some more cards done!  woohoo!  hope you are having a wonderful-scrappy weekend!

Supplies: Paper - Prima, Cardstock - CTMH, Stamps - Hero Arts, Ink - Distress Inks in Tattered Rose and Antique Linen, Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic - E000, E00, E02, E50, E51, E55, RV91, RV93, RV95, B91, B93, B95, Spica - black, Pearls - Queen&Co, lace and tag - unknown

embrace imperfection...or something like that!

morning all!  hope you are having a fabulous weekend!  had a great day of football yesterday...lots of good games, and the upsets were so much fun!  anyways...on to the reason for today's post.  i recently bought a 7gypsies binderie...and pulled it out this weekend to play.  it came with a cutie little book to get you started...and here is what the cover was as it came out of the package...

now i love the black and off-white...one of my favorite combos...but it just wasn't quite what i wanted...here is what i ended up with

i started by cutting a piece of grungepaper to the same size as the cover...used a tim holtz mask and distress ink to get the base done.  i then stamped the entire piece with a large background stamp, stamped a clock face on clear cardstock and then layered the clock with some idea-ology parts; finished it off with some metal book corners and a grunge flower.

oh snap! better mention the fact that this was created with the Simon Says Stamp and Show your metal challenge in mind!

Hope you have a fantastic Sunday!

Supplies: grungepaper; distress inks - broken china, brushed corduroy, peeled paint; tim holtz mask from timeworks set (idea-ology); game spinners, gear, paper clip and corners all from idea-ology; adirondack paint dabber in juniper; stamps - studio 490, embrace imperfection from tim holtz (stampers anonymous), CTMH - Make it count set (clock); ranger archival ink in black and coffee; distress stickles in peeled paint; clear cardstock by heartfelt creations; maya road kraft tag

is it really CAS?

a clean and simple card that is?  well...i'll let you see the card and then i'll explain!  LOL!

so here's the deal...i went on to Splitcoast to see what the newest Hope You Can Cling To challenge was...and woohoo!  the challenge is titled Happy Flowers...the idea is to make your own paper flower...so the first thing that came to mind was a lollipop flower...well i also started checking out the clean and simple challenge at SCS...the theme was Crinkle...well that works perfectly with my flower idea...so then I needed a sketch...so I hit up the clean&simple blog and lo and behold...they had one!  PERFECT!  so then i started making my flower...and it just grew and grew!  LOL!  it ended up being so big!  now personally I LOVE IT!  well when it came time to put the card together...all of the cardstock I had trimmed for the card base...seemed almost too small...but i ran with it anyways.  so now my flower takes up 1/2 the card!  (and forced me to very loosely interpret the sketch at clean&simple).  so...does this still make it Clean and Simple???  I decided it did...and have decided to enter it at clean&simple FTL111 challenge and in the CAS88 at SCS.  so there...that's my story and i'm sticking to it!  HEEHEE!

Supplies: Paper - CTMH; Cardstock - CTMH; Sentiment - Verve; Ink - Ranger Archival in Coffee; Tattered angels glimmer mist in Iridescent Gold; ribbon and button from my stash; Adirondack Paint Dabber - Snow Cap

holiday gift notebook...with a Moxie twist!

wow...almost had a moment...a senior moment...i've been slowly but surely working my way through the Moxie Fab Holiday Cards & More week challenges...and I almost forgot to get one posted!  ACKKK!  I would have kicked myself!  I worked on this a week or so ago...and I had set it aside to let the stickles dry...and thankfully remembered today...that it needed to be photo'd and posted!  This project was created for the Season's Giftings challenge...I have a friend (who shall remain nameless..heehee...you know who you are!) who gets incredibly distracted this holiday time of year...one holiday after another straight into THE holiday...she can never get holiday cards mailed or keep track of who she needs gifts for vs. who she has already bought gifts for...so here is my gift to her:

Each section is tabbed off with ribbon and labeled for cards, presents, parties, food, etc.  plenty of pages so it should last a season or two!  if not...well...altering notebooks is a lot of fun...maybe i can be convinced to keep on giving!

now...since my posts are scattered throughout...if you are interested in looking, here are links to the projects I created for all of the Holiday Week and more challenges for Moxie Fab World that I played in:

All Wrapped Up challenge
Jolly Holiday Greetings challenge
Decor to Make the Season Bright challenge
and you are on the page for the Season's Giftings challenge!

Have a Moxie-fab rest of your Sunday!  Time for TITANS FOOTBALL!!!!!

Supplies for notebook: Composition book - walmart; Paper - Jovial by Basic Grey; Cardstock - Kraft, American Crafts; Letters - Thickers by American Crafts; Ribbon - Pure Color; Stickles - Diamond, Holly, Candy Cane

celebrate today

back again!  woohoo!  on a card roll today!  another card for Hope You Can Cling To (Fab Flower Power) challenges at Splitcoast!  The idea was have at least one flower you made yourself.  My flowers are made from grungepaper, inked with distress inks and stamped with Studio 490 stamps.  The number background stamp was inspired by Simon Says Stamp and Show your numbers challenge, the color palette (orange and brown) and the little flowers came from Cupcake Inspirations challenge #80.  Whew...now that I've got all of that in there...here is my card:

now...off and running again...Titans play at 4ish...so hopefully I'll be celebrating a win later today!

Supplies: Paper - Kraft and Grungepaper; Stamps - Studio 490; Inks - Distress Inks in Broken China, Rusty Hinge and Peeled Paint, Ranger Archival in Black and Coffee; Snaps - Sewing basket; Jute - Westrim Crafts; button and beads - unknown

gracias!

good morning!  well...what's left of the morning part!  been up since the wee hours...so i had time to get a card started and finished early today!  Created this card for Hope You Can Cling To #10 at Splitcoast, using the Mojo Monday sketch #159 (MOJO159).  I love sketches!  There are days I can just design my own card completely from base up...and other times I need the sketch to get it going!

Lots of football today...hopefully my team wins!  Go TITANS!  until later!

what costume?

so this card i made is totally based off of a t-shirt that my husband has that says "this is my costume."  it's his answer to Halloween!  So when i was peeking about at challenges going on...the Simon Says Stamp challenge with a theme of Halloween had me giggling...have this lovely stamp from The Greeting Farm...and I figured...why not??  have a little fun!  to top it all off...used the fab sketch over at Club Anya Saturday Sketch challenge!  ahhh...love how a plan comes together!

Ok...off for some family time!  Will definitely have a post at some point this weekend as a review of a new paper trimmer I have...had some issues with my paper trimmer and went in a different direction today...plan on filling you all in later!  Have a fab Saturday!

go Pink!

because pink is oh so fab!  heehee!  ok...VERY quick post...off to have some family movie night time...but...I GOT THEM ALL DONE!  The Verve Release Week Challenges that is!  The last...but definitely not least...Sketch #5!  So happy!  as I mentioned in my previous post...it's been close to if not over a year since I tried to clear the Verve release hurdle...and TAH DAH!  I DID IT!  woohoo!  even better...this card helps contribute to the Hope You Can Cling To cause at Splitcoaststampers!  The challenge over there was twine...and to use it in a non-normal way...so I stitched with it...and let me tell you...likely to never happen again!  LMAO!  Here's my card:

Ok...now for some fun fam movies...Harry Potter perhaps???  Or Percy Jackson maybe???  ahhh...the suspense!  Have a fab friday!

Supplies: Cardstock - Bazzil, CTMH, Paperbag; Sentiment - Verve; Flower - Prima; Cuttlebug Embossing Folder - Swiss Dots; Ink - Ranger Archival in Coffee; Pearls - Queen&Co; Jute - Westrim Crafts; Ribbon - unknown

Have yourself a...

Merry Christmas!  (too soon???)  LOL!  Created this card to keep up with the fabuloso Hope You Can Cling To challenges going on at Splitcoaststampers...AND...to get myself one step closer to completing the Verve Stamps Release Week Sketches (sketch #4)  (it's been close to a year if not more since I tried getting all of their release week challenges done!).  The sketch was divine to work with!

Ok...one more card to get done for Verve...and about 4 behind at SCS...so off I go to get crafty!  By the way...if you haven't had the chance to yet...PLEASE check out the SCS Hope You Can Cling To challenges...all for a VERY worthy cause!  I speak from this as the child of man who lost his battle with colon cancer almost 12 years ago and as both a grandchild and a great grandchild of women who lost their battles to breast cancer...sometimes all you need in a day is a bright spot of joy...and a card can do just that!

holly jolly in pink

Had serious issues putting this card together...let's just say that it started out in a completely different format...and finally had to apply the keep it simple stupid (KISS) principle and pull some things apart (thank goodness for repositionable adhesive)...and well here is what I ended up with!

This was created for the Hope You Can Cling To Pink Holiday challenge at Splitcoaststampers.  Again...let me oh so subtly point out the blinkie on my sidebar...check it out...cards for an amazing cause!
